How the calculation works
The calculator turns each time into minutes after midnight, subtracts start from end, then subtracts the break. If the end is earlier than the start, it adds 24 hours, so 10:00 pm to 6:00 am is 8 hours.

How many hours is 9 to 5?
9:00 am to 5:00 pm is 8 hours. With a 30 minute unpaid lunch it is 7 hours 30 minutes, or 7.5 hours.
How do I calculate hours between two times?
Subtract the earlier time from the later one. If the later time is on the next day, add 24 hours first. Then subtract any unpaid break.
How do I convert 7 hours 20 minutes to decimal?
Divide 20 by 60 to get 0.33, then add 7. The result is 7.33 hours.
